Chelsea in the City: My Morning Routine

I am not sure about you, but I love watching “Morning Routine” videos on Youtube, and reading similar posts on blogs by the likes of Lydia Millen, Chriselle Lim or Mimi Ikonn. It is so important to have your own morning routine. In fact, a good morning routine is one of self-love, and starts by waking up with a grateful mind, and eating a nourishing meal. It is incredible how little habits like these can shape your approach to daily life. Here are the things I try to do every morning to help me embrace the day ahead…


I usually wake up to the sound of my iPhone alarm. I open my blinds immediately, and look out my window. Living in the city means that I see the sunrise, so this always helps me get motivated for the day ahead.

I usually lay in bed for 10 minutes, and have a look at the social media platforms I use, and answer any emails I have received.


The first thing I do when I get out of bed is make myself a cup of chamomile tea. I then make myself a big, nourishing and filling breakfast. This usually includes organic ancient grain toast with eggs, or porridge with a teaspoon of locally sourced honey.


If I decide to work out, this is when I usually head off to the gym. I have a gym in my building, which is great and means I do not even have to venture outside (just yet)!

At the gym I like to exercise at a slow pace, so that I can really enjoy my workouts. This means either running at a leisurely pace, or walking on the treadmill. I like to use exercise as a way of clearing my mind, and de-stressing.

I might finish with some core work, and then I stretch!


It is now time to have a shower, get changed and enjoy another day. Remember that each day is a blessing, so use it wisely!
